Best Places to Play Pickleball in Oro Valley Arizona
Pickleball has been blowing up in popularity over the past few years, and if you've played before, then you'll understand the hype. It's a fast-paced, addicting game, that is quick to learn, but challenging to master. Luckily, here in the Tucson area, we have many options for playing pickleball - some are free and open to the public, while others are for members only. Whether you’re a seasoned player or a beginner, Oro Valley offers several places to enjoy this exciting game. Let’s explore the various places to play pickleball in Oro Valley:
Oro Valley Pickleball Courts Open to the Public
Riverfront Park
Riverfront Park is the best place to learn to play pickleball in Oro Valley or the North side of Tucson. It's free and open to the public and consists of four pickleball courts painted over an existing tennis court. The vibe here is pretty laid back with many beginners using Riverfront as a place to learn and master their skills. You can't reserve the court, but there is a paddle rack where you can put your paddle to indicate that you are the next in line. After playing one game it's customary to get off the court, let the next group in line play, and put your paddle back in the rack to play again.
Oro Valley Community Center
The Oro Valley Community Center welcomes both members and drop-in players. They have an impressive 10 pickleball courts to play on. If you’re not a member, you can pay a $5 daily fee to access the courts. The center hosts regular pickleball events and clinics, making it a hub for pickleball enthusiasts. If you want to reserve a court or play during a time that's not open-play, then you'll need to become a member.
Naranja Park
The Naranja Park pickleball courts should be opening in 2024 and it's another public park where you can go play pickleball for free. When they first open, they will only have 4 courts, but they plan to add additional courts in future years. With unobstructed views of the Catalina Mountains, this might be the most beautiful place to play pickleball in Tucson.
